Chef, Fireman, Landscaper, Publisher, Developer and a founding participant in the first ever Sedona Jazz On the Rocks, an event he continued to volunteer for over the past 20 years. His experience as a Chef and long time passion for the art of cooking went hand in hand with fine wine and soon led Rod Snapp to his enology / vinticulture apprenticeship and the purchase of land. After 6 years of struggle and sacrifice the dream of a vineyard & winery was realized when Javelina Leap opened in November of 2006.

A PIECE OF ARIZONA HISTORY
Javelina Leap Vineyard & Winery is located in a valley named Page Springs for the Page family who farmed the area at the turn of the century and also for the abundance of artesian springs. Some of the original family farms and ranches still exist in the area. Another of the early settlers the Schurman family grew and sold Zinfandel wine grapes to miners in the nearby historic town of Jerome. This boomimg mining town was once said to be the badest town in the west complete with victorian fashions from Paris to brothels and saloons. To comemorate this specail historic time Cynthia Reed
( also known as Mrs. Javelina Leap )designed the Javelina Leap tasting room after a saloon with copper cieling, oak bar and ragtime music.
